Last week, my colleague Leslie Miller and I stopped by the inaugural Fluid Power Technology Conference, which was put on by WTWH Media and Fluid Power World at the Milwaukee School of Engineering Kern Center. The two-day event featured keynote presentations, breakout sessions, and a trade show area with company booths. A number of NFPA members sponsored the event or had booths in the trade show area, including Aggressive Hydraulics, Flodraulic Group, FluiDyne, Gerdau, JARP Industries, Lynch Fluid Controls, Milwaukee Cylinder, OEM Controls, Price Engineering, and SMC Corporation of America.
While we were there, we were able to catch a few presentations, including “Modern Efficiencies, Technological Advances and Sustainability in Fluid Power,” which was a keynote presentation by Tom Price of Price Engineering, and “The Value of the Fluid Power Distributor in a Changing World” by Bill Tulloch of Flodraulic Group. While Price’s presentation focused on the effects of social and technological megatrends on fluid power and Tulloch’s focused on developments in ways of doing business, both presentations emphasized the need for the industry as a whole to be adaptable in order to stay competitive, especially in light of today’s fast-paced changes.
