DOE Releases Funding Opportunity for Advanced Vehicle Technologies

On May 1, U.S. Secretary of Energy, Rick Perry, announced the availability of up to $68.5 million in funding for early-stage research of advanced vehicle technologies. One topic eligible for up to $3.5 million and of specific interest to the fluid power industry is Area of Interest 4a: Energy Efficient Commercial Off-Road Vehicles. Concept papers in this area should outline projects that improve energy efficiency of the engines and fuels for commercial off-road vehicles in construction, agriculture, and mining.

The concept paper deadline is May 29, 2018. Researchers who submit a concept paper will receive status notifications around June 15, 2018, and the full application submission deadline is July 13, 2018. Selections and award negotiations will be made in September 2018.
