Consulting firm McKinsey & Company hosts resources related to the economic impact of COVID-19. “COVID-19: Implications for Business” is an ongoing series of briefing notes outlining critical issues for strategic planning and business management during the COVID-19 pandemic, with suggested actions.
More detail is included in a “Full Briefing Materials PPT” download. Slide 26 of the PPT holds particular interest, offering potential leading indicators related to the depth, length, and recovery of the COVID-19 disruption. Two leading indicators for the fluid power industry are identified as leading indicators of COVID-19 economic recovery:
- Durable Goods as an indicator for depth of the economic disruption; and
- Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) as an indicator for length of the economic disruption.
A full data series for both indicators can be found in NFPA’s Customer Market File.
As the leading source of fluid power market information in the U.S., NFPA offers a variety of resources related to COVID-19’s impact on our industry and the global economy to assist our members in planning their next move. However, there are a number of other valuable COVID-19 economic impact resources available to the public. The “COVID-19 Economic Impact Resource Spotlight” series in the weekly NFPA News will identify those most relevant to NFPA members.
Questions and inquiries about COVID-19 Economic Impact Resources can be directed to Eric Armstrong at earmstrong@nfpa.com or (414) 778-3372.
