Caterpillar Donates $40K to South Milwaukee High School

Donations, whether made to the NFPA Foundation to support grant and scholarship programs or directly to the schools themselves, help bring fluid power equipment and education to more students, which in turn helps strengthen the fluid power industry. One company making a difference in fluid power education is Caterpillar, which made a $40,000 donation to South Milwaukee High School back in 2015. According to a Biz Times article, the money was used to enhance the school’s engineering curriculum through the purchase of a new CNC milling machine, 3D printer, design laptops, and engineering kits, through student field trips and professional development for teachers, as well as through the development of a new rapid prototype lab for manufacturing students.

NFPA’s workforce team saw the benefits of the donation in action at the South Milwaukee High School Fluid Power Action Challenge, not only through a lab tour, but also in the Challenge itself in that students were required to use a 3D-printed part in their designs.

Caterpillar also sponsors and provides mentors for the South Milwaukee High School FIRST® Robotics team.
