We regularly publish a short company profile of an NFPA member as a way for us to highlight the diversity and strength of our industry. Today’s company is Schmalz, Inc.
Schmalz, Inc., based in Raleigh, North Carolina, is the U.S. location of the global manufacturer of vacuum technology. The company’s vacuum components and gripping systems are used for automation, vacuum lifting devices and crane systems for manual work processes, and vacuum clamping technology for processing wood and metal. The end-use industries Schmalz serves include automotive, chemical, textile, aerospace, packaging, and wind energy. An NFPA member since 2007, the company has been active in NFPA conferences by consistently having representatives at both the IEOC and Annual Conference since joining. In addition to serving on NFPA task forces, beginning July 1, 2017, Schmalz will be represented on the NFPA Board of Directors by Volker Schmitz, PhD and president of the company. The company is also a supporter of the NFPA Education and Technology Foundation as a member of the Pascal Society.
